Manage customer records
To manage customer records, start with customer access and a confirmed customer identity before changing profile, credit, points, or promotions. In Admin, search customers, filter customers, create customer, and open customer. Collect only necessary customer data and verify consent, balances, eligibility, and expiry before changing credit, loyalty, or promotions.
Before you start
- Customer access and a confirmed customer identity before changing profile, credit, points, or promotions
- Search first to avoid duplicate customers and verify branch, dates, balances, and limits
Create a customer
- Search /customers using the available identifiers before creating a profile.
- Enter only required identity and contact fields, record consent where requested, save once, and verify the new profile.
Edit a customer
- Open /customers/:id and verify the identity and branch context.
- Change only intended profile fields and confirm the saved result before leaving.
Review customer activity
- Open the customer’s order, loyalty, or credit tab as a separate read workflow.
- Use each tab’s own permission and source records; do not infer balances from profile data.
Expected result
The customer list or detail shows one branch-scoped customer identity with the saved profile fields. Orders, loyalty, and credit appear only from their own records and permissions; a failed create does not leave an assumed customer in the list.
Permissions
- Customer list and detail require customers.read; create and edit mutations require their separately enforced customer-write access.
Troubleshooting
A customer search returns no match.
Confirm branch and the identifier entered, then clear filters and search again before creating a new customer. Do not expose or duplicate personal data merely because one search field missed the record.
A customer save or related tab fails.
Correct the profile validation and submit once, or check the separate order, loyalty, or credit permission for that tab. Escalate with a safe customer reference, branch, route, and error without unnecessary personal data.
