Create or edit a customer
Customer forms validate name, phone, email, country, city, consent, and minor or guardian requirements before saving. Open Customers and choose New customer, or open a record and choose Edit, enter only the needed accurate details, and complete consent and guardian fields when applicable. Collect only necessary customer data and verify consent, identity, credit, and loyalty context before saving or charging.
Before you start
- An authenticated POS session assigned to the intended branch.
- The correct customer record or minimum details needed to create one are available.
Create a customer
- Search by the intended contact identifier to avoid a duplicate.
- Select New customer, enter the required identity/contact fields, and record consent through the dedicated control when applicable.
- Save once and verify the new profile appears in Customers.
Edit a customer
- Open the matching customer profile and verify its identity.
- Change only the intended fields or consent state.
- Save once, reopen the profile, and confirm the update.
Expected result
One validated customer record is created or the selected record is updated with the reviewed details. Do not create a duplicate customer or repeat a balance-changing action while the first result is uncertain.
Permissions
- Customer access follows the assigned customer capability; Khata, loyalty, consent, and editing controls require their corresponding permission and branch context.
Troubleshooting
POS does not let staff open Customers and choose New customer, or open a record and choose Edit; they cannot continue to enter only the needed accurate details.
Before reopening the workflow, verify: An authenticated POS session assigned to the intended branch. The correct customer record or minimum details needed to create one are available. Keep the same branch and record, reopen /customers, and try the blocked action once. If it still fails, stop and send Support the safe customer reference, branch, affected field/balance, status, and time; remove unnecessary customer data. For escalation, state what happens when staff open Customers and choose New customer, or open a record and choose Edit.
The profile, consent, Khata, loyalty, or linked-order state does not match one customer after the final checkpoint: Save and verify the customer record.
Compare the selected profile, contact identifier, consent, Khata balance, loyalty state, and linked order. Search for the customer again before retrying; do not create a duplicate profile or repeat an unresolved balance action. An unresolved mismatch needs Support review with the safe customer reference, branch, affected field/balance, status, and time; remove unnecessary customer data. Use the visible and saved records to determine whether staff could save and verify the customer record.
