Troubleshoot a barcode scanner

USB and Bluetooth scanners normally act as keyboard input and must send the full configured barcode terminator. Confirm the scanner is paired with the terminal, scan into a plain text field to verify keyboard output, and return to Billing and scan once. Test the device on the intended terminal and keep manual fallback procedures available during service.

Before you start

  • The POS terminal is assigned to the intended branch.
  • The operating system and browser can access the printer, scanner, camera, microphone, scale, or heartbeat feature used by the task.

Steps

  1. Confirm the scanner is paired with the terminal.
  2. Scan into a plain text field to verify keyboard output.
  3. Return to Billing and scan once.
  4. Correct product barcode mapping when TajerGo reports no match.

Expected result

The paired scanner sends the complete barcode and terminator as keyboard input to the focused register. Use the documented manual fallback until the device test succeeds on the intended terminal.

Permissions

  • POS access is required; operating-system device permission or installation rights may also be required on the terminal.

Troubleshooting

A barcode scan produces no characters in POS.

Scan into a plain text field. If no characters appear, check scanner power, pairing, cable, keyboard mode, and operating-system input before returning to Billing. The POS integration expects keyboard-wedge input.

The scanner types characters but POS adds no item or the wrong item.

Refocus Billing and scan once. If there is no match, search manually; if the wrong item appears, remove that cart line. Ask an authorized catalog manager to verify the exact barcode mapping before another scan.
